Question: What is an Artist Trading Card or ATC?

"I've heard people talking about swapping artist trading cards. What are these?" -- C.P.

Answer: An artist trading card (or ATC for short) is a tiny, original piece of art created with the intention of swapping or trading it with another artist, not selling it. The one rule an artist trading card must adhere to is the size. An ATC must be 2.5x3.5 inches or 64x89 mm. (Why? That's the size of the original collectible sports trading cards.)
On the front of an ATC an artist creates an original work to showcase their art. It can be a one-off, part of a series, or a limited edition. On the back the artist puts their name, contact details, title of the ATC, number if it's a limited edition, and sometimes the date it was created.
Artist trading cards can be made in any medium and using any technique, whether it's painting, drawing, or collage. You are really limited only by your imagination and materials. (For some great ATC ideas and techniques, read Art in your Pocket: ATC.)
Who you trade with and whether you trade one of your card for one of someone elses, or think it's more valuable and want multiple cards, is up to you. You can also trade cards you've received if you don't want to keep them. The whole aim is to be creative and communicate with other people being creative.
Regular trading sessions are organised in larger cities and although face-to-face trading fits the original intention of artist trading cards better because you're meeting new people, trading by post also happens. You can find other ATC creators through groups such as the Flick Artist Trading Cards. An international postal trade is organized by Copy Left in which you submit 20 cards and get a mixed set back.
An ATC created with the intention of selling it is known as an ACEO (short for Art Cards, Editions and Originals). ACEOs are often sold on EBay. Why the two names when the only difference is that the one is sold and the other not? Well, neglect that difference and you could find yourself in the middle of an argument between someone who believes all art should be for sale and that ATCs exclude non-artists, and someone who believes art cards is a distinctive form of art and shouldn't ever be sold.

So I would love to be an art therapist when I grow up- Like old lady - some times people go to therapy hope to find a "Cure" and simply can't open up to the doc- so that is where art therapy can step in and give a voice.

Gosh Darn it! What Now....

In an effort to have a more cohesive etsy shop- I diversified a bit.

Hoping to create a successful vintage shop - pin back button shop and original art shop-

I am beginning to see that the three separate shops is just not going to work for me.

I have ask for advise- and critiques- and I think trying to take the advise from different areas has only caused me to chase my tail- putting all the shops in need of care and love.

Imagine you want happy successful children- and you spread them out in different areas of town.
One in soccer - One in karate - One in dance

You love all of your children equally and want to support them and show up for there games and performances. However it is all you can do to keep their laundry up, fed them, help them with there homework, take them to school, volunteer in their PTA, remind them to bathe and brush their teeth- you know the day to day stuff. On top you have to drop them off at regular practices, keep their uniforms and equipment together. Then let say one brakes and arm at a game, but your at the other ones deal.

Anxiety Overload - Right?

Well I do have three kiddies- and three etsy shops- All need more Love!

So what now?
None of the shops are profiting - lol and the kids are requiring more and more time- so?

I cant just ditch it all- but I cant keep on going like this.

Pretty Sure I will be putting everything back into one shop - despite loads of advise not to.

I liked my weird shop full of randomness- it was fun back then, manageable and somewhat profitable.

Can't it be like a Gypsy Wagon? I think so...

Temper Temper

Andy my three year old had a temper tantrum that beat the all- hitting and even a bite- when I picked him up to calm him down-

I was putting a coat of Kilz on the salvaged kitchen island and I gave in and gave him a brush- and showed him how to paint without drips and he was loving it. I said to him, " Ok it is almost time to clean up- when we finish this corner we will clean up. Ok? ". He said, "Okay."

When it came time- he was not having it- he screamed and yelled and hit me over and over. I picked him up and whispered in his ear - I love you, lets show each other love- and he freakin bit me. hard - I in turn yelled and took him to his bed and pull down his diaper and spanked in 3 time- then left the room-

Feeling all of my energy drain away I started searching for tips- and there was love and logic, again.

I dont think spanking for spanking makes sense- so I need to find an alternative. I can not send an angry 5 year old off to kindergarten and just expect it to work it's self out.

So even though I hve been taught to "spare the rod and spoil the child".

My name is Melissa Wilks. I have been married for 8 years and am the mother of two young boys. I am a full-time college student working on a degree for Special Education and spend as much time as I can working on my glass, metal and art.

What is the first thing you can remember making by hand?

Wire-wrapped bracelets

How and why did you make it?

I was in 6th grade and our art teacher had a lot of random wire that I discovered could be wrapped into colorful bracelets. Soon everyone in my school wanted them and I went into business. Sadly a few weeks in and the school made me stop. Turns out parents got upset that some kids were using their lunch money to buy them.

What inspires you? Where do your ideas come from?
My ideas come from everywhere. I use nature a lot and sometimes even my kids have great ideas, too.

What are your favorite materials?

Glass and Metal

Any tips for selling handmade stuff?

Just keep trying. Eventually you will find your niche.

Apart from creating things, what do you do?

Be a mother and lots of studying.

What handmade possession do you most cherish?

I have many, but I think my most cherished is a paper bracelet my son Preston made for me when he was 3.

What advice would you give to artists who are new to Etsy?

Have lots of pictures and be sure to use all your tags. Treasuries are also a great way to get started.

How do you promote your work?

I use Facebook, Twitter, Face-to-Face and Word of Mouth. I also do lots of networking and talking to people at various shows.

Please describe your creative process how, when, materials, etc.

I rarely sit down and make anything from start to finish. Most of my pieces get started one day and finished whenever I can find the time. I usually have three or four projects, at least, going at one time. I jump around between metal, glass, wire and beadwork depending on my mood. Many of my work is done during naptime or around midnight.

What first made you want to become an artist?

I am not sure I ever just sat down and decided that was what I wanted to do. I think I have just always been involved in the arts. Crafting just makes me happy.

Last night I had to go to Downtown Dallas to drop off some art- and I was going to drive myself and rush there and back- blah

I was on Facebook and said hello to pal- and she said she would go with me to keep me company. Then she suggested that we take the T&P Train-

A blah evening turned into A LOT of fun! It was an adventure - and we decided that we would make a great pair on "The Amazing Race" (Is that show still on?) After we got off the train we hiked 13 or so blocks- in flip flops- to arrive at Upstairs @ Pearls on Commerce. I was dripping with sweat and super happy I made it before Travis Rex left.

On the trip home we had a little therapy session - I met Sara through CCF and I knew instantly I wanted to be her friend. It has taken well over two years before we have had a chance to have a decent conversation - and I was right that she is a cool chic. Love her! Anyway the reason for the artwork in the first place is for this event TONIGHT!

My youngest son is turning 3 in just a few short days and I have not planned anything for his birthday celebration- I better get with it huh?

This Texas heat just drain every ounce of energy that I have. Show me the pool and shade - ice cold summer drinks and bbq- that has pretty much been my frame of mind these days.

Shine your Sink! Have a good Week...

I mentioned to someone about tring to balance everything- Husband, Kids, Home,Work... I know I am not alone in this- so I was asking for tips and suggestions.

So I was told about a website,http://flylady.net

I went there and found SOOOOO much info, Great now I have something else to throw into unbalanced shuffle. This was over a year ago. I did the very first thing they recommend you start with -

"Go Shine Your Sink!"

I did this step by step...
and a funny thing happened. I began to get excited about having a shiny sink. Anyone who knows me know that housekeeping is never at the top of my list. In fact I am embarrassed to admit that I thought if my sink was umpty of dishes them it Was clean, yikes!

The list recommends you take before and after pictures- I have just now got the courage to show them to the world. Sorry Mom, I know you taught me better.

I am embarassed to say I thought this sink was pretty clean, it just needed a rinse down...right.....WRONG
I followed the rules below ....

BE SURE AND RINSE WELL BETWEEN EACH STEP OF THE WAY!

Take all the dishes out of the sink.

Run some very hot water into the sink. Fill to the rim. Only do one side at a time. Then, pour a cup of household bleach into the hot water. Let it sit for 1 hour. Now, pull the plug with a pair of tongs. If you don't have tongs, then scoop some of the water out of the sink into the other sink and use your hand to pull the plug (wear gloves and don't get the bleach-water on your clothes).

Rinse your sink well.

Use some cleanser (Comet, Ajax, or Baking Soda) and scrub your sink. Ensure you rinse ALL of the cleanser from the sink.

Take a sharp edge and clean around the rim of the sink, just like you would clean dirt out from under your fingernails.

Clean around the faucets too. You may need an old toothbrush or dental floss.

Now, get out your window cleaner, I use Windex, and give it a good shine.

If you still don't like the way it looks, then you could try some car wax. Just know in your heart that you have cleaned it very well now and it doesn't have to be perfect. Our perfectionism is what got us in this situation in the first place.

Every time you run water in your sink, take your clean dishtowel and dry it out (I lay out a clean one, every night with my before bedtime routine). Before you know it, you will be doing this everytime you leave your kitchen. The rest of the family will too. No more water spots. You will have a clean and shiny sink.

Don't have a fit if someone doesn't take as much pride in your sink as you do. It is very easy to fix. You have already done the hard part. You will never have to go through this process again. Daily maintenance will keep it looking this way all the time. Nasty hurtful word are not as easy to repair. Just be sure and tell your family what you are trying to do. They will think you have gone crazy.

If you don't have a dishwasher, don't worry. A dishwasher is just a dirty dish disposal. Clean out a place under your sink and put a dishpan in there. Teach your family, that instead of putting their dirty dishes and glasses in the sink, place them into the dish pan. Get into the habit of putting your dishes away as soon as they have been washed and are dry. No more leaving the dish drying rack on the counter or in the sink. Put it away under the sink when you have finished. If your old one is nasty, you may want to soak it in the sink full of bleach water at the same time you soak the sink or go buy a new set.

To insure that your family remembers this, put a note in the sink. It will get their attention and remind them where to put the dishes. Be patient! They have never been taught either. It is going to take some practice.

Now if you have a stainless steel sink, I recommend all of the above directions with one extra instruction added: after you soak your sink, rinse well, and use SOS pads to scrub it. This will buff the finish. It will look like new.
If you still can't get it to shine after the Windex, put a light coat of lemon oil or olive oil on it. I mean just a tiny bit on a cloth and rub it. This will make you smile. Some people have had very good results from Bar Keepers Friend.

Last note: ensure you don't mix cleansers like Comet, etc. with Windex (or other ammonia based cleaners), you can create dangerous gases! It is worth repeating: rinse well between each step.

I did not make a sign for my family, to remember to dry out the sink. Some of the things are a bit over the top for my family.

electronic cigarette

My husband purchased these e-cigarettes to stop smoking. The starter kit comes with two " cigarettes".
So I have been giving them a shot too.

3 days without a conventional cigarettes- ( no ashes, no stinky smoke, chemicals, no yellow teeth, etc....)
I pray this does the trick. After we kick the $14.00 a day habit- We can afford a gym! I can visualize myself more fit and healthy, and alive to enjoy my grand babies. The boys are very happy, I know they would be very glad not to smell like stale smoke.

So that is what I am doing, KICKING the Butt!

Prepair for Fun....

Be ready...or miss all the fun.
I can not tell a lie... I procrastinated on getting my things together for this Indie Arts Show. The week before, I knew I could get it all whipped out, no problem. As the end of the week quickly approached... I began to notice a few things. I had a sore throat that just would not quit, my laundry pile was taller than my 10 year old, I still did not have a clear picture of my set up. I panic-ed quietly to myself. Trying not to commit to any other things- other than my children's welfare and husbands needs. I woke up at 6:00 went to bed at 4:00 - for days. Other than the sore thought and the chaos in my home, I thought I could go on at this pace. Well my body was putting out all of my energy- only to find that after the show- I was not only out of gas...I was like a broken down jalopy.

People always say that they learned a lot from an experience. I learned that if I am going to continue to be involved with "shows" I will be ready weeks before.
The reason why? I did not get to have as much fun as I could have had. I did not get to go see anyone's booths, I wanted to touch and feel and buy too!

I did sell a lot of merch. , that was great. However was only able to purchase one thing from RobotPop. (Cute little Banana Earrings)

As soon as I pulled up to the event and open the back of my car my 1" button supplies- fell out on the ground and flew everywhere. Stephine from RobotPop.etsy.com stepped up and help me to get everything back into the boxes. I stacked my things on a rolling garment rack, like " The Cat in the Hat." (Suit Cases, hat boxes, flowers, on and on) I must have looked like a mess. - I know I felt like one. I rolled my disaster into my 10X10 spot, and heard the 25 min. call until the doors open. ( I was close to the front) I dropped more things - threw my hands in the air and proclaimed, " I quit!"
Then the couple from Redneck Chic ( http://www.redneckchic.blogspot.com/ ) popped their heads around the corner and offered to help, then the super sweet couple from a million bushels
( http://www.amillionbushels.com/ ) who were next to me - gritted their teeth like," Oh No, Poor Thing." and offered help ( Should add that I borrowed one of Laurie's pens and probably still have it and if it where not for her husbands handwork- my tall shutter with mini pictures would have been on the ground. Thank you both so much, I love, love love your work) and then Joycelyn's ( makaylacreations.etsy.com ) Daughters stepped in and just started helping and helping and helping,thanks a million! . Love you girls, Thank you!!!!!

I was not nervous about selling my things but I was a wreck thinking of how to set up my booth in 10 minutes.
Thank you, God for sending me all the angels.

Also my buddy Ben came! Yeah! He is an amazing artist- and the fact that he came, watched my booth for me and bought some of my buttons and art- makes me so very happy.

Just another brick in the wall...

As I am getting ready for the spring fling on sat.

I'm going around town with paint on me and now mud too. We had a lot of rain this last week causing under our house to flood. Once it filled up- it began draining into the converted garage. Which is our boys room.

I have had feelings ranging from mad, to sad, to guilt and gratefulness.

Why guilt? At the end of last year Chip and I decided to move all the boys into the 2 car garage. (long story...My mother had it converted so she could stay with us for awhile, after she sold her 28 year home)

It is a nice room, if fact it has been our bedroom for years, but as my business is growing so are my tools and supplies. Chip has started really promoting his side business and he needed a place for a work station. (he also put all the boys computers in the office so he can monitor them better)

So with that said... I took over the babies room(2), he took over the 6year old room and we moved into the 10 year old room.

It seemed like a perfect plan until two days after the move the garage flooded. Carpet, Padding, Rugs... SOAKED! We threw out the padding, rented a pump to clear out water from under the house, giant fans to dry the floor. Yada yada, big ordeal right. We survived it- and all things we getting back to normal. Davis, Elliot and Andy enjoy sharing a big room- until it flooded again!!! Now I feel so bad having them out there- we have had to throw away the carpet this go around.

As that were not enough... I ask Chip to buy "US" a brand new bedroom suite. It was delivered Monday and it is really nice. How can I be happy with an awesome bedroom, when my little boys are living in a swamp?

I feel really horrible.

What is causing this?

1. We built a deck in the back- is this causing the h2o to divert weird?

2. Every time it rains our house sinks a bit. lol

3. Our Neighbor, moved tons and tons of dirt around in her backyard with a bull doozer to keep her house from flooding.

I went to a councilor meeting last night with paint, mud and glue all over me. A big hole in my shirt and hair like Medusa.

So today do I get up and shower? Nope. Dropped the kids off at school, cleaned out the car, checked emails...blogged- lol

I need to pack for my booth! Make 300 buttons and ship them.

Whoever said working at home was nice- has not done it for very long. (Or has not done it with a two year old at home with them)

So does this post make any sense, probably not. I do not even have time to proof read it. hahaa

I just need to vent for a minute to whoever is listening.

The other day I responded to a facebook message from the founding memeber of the Fort Worth Etsy Team.
It stated ...

DFW ***Mixed Media*** Artists Only - Free Stuff to whoever wants to take it away. Two 7 drawer, one 5 drawer, one 4 drawer, one three drawer units all working order/none broken. Numerous texture mediums, collage supplies, papers, stencils, Ranger Melting post, and a ton of others supplies I threw in the drawers. Some things have been used once or twice and many not at all but the supplies are worth too much $$ to get rid of. Only rules are you cannot ask for an itemized list (you take it all or none) and you must be willing to come pick it all up and take it away in one load (you'll probably need an suv or truck).Send me a private message if you are interested to make arrangements. First come/First serve.

Well I was the first one to respond and I Got it!!! Oh Happy Day! Drove to pick it up one night and smiled all the way home!
One I got inside- I began to flip through the books and started jumping for joy! Have you ever gone to a book store or library and looked in books and thought- oohh I could make that! Oh I want That! Ohhh AAhhhh! I did this for well over an hour.

Then I started looking threw the drawers - I could not belive my eyes! She had just given me a fortune in supplies, storage and books!
I have been so inspired to create since the pick up. Slinging paint, glue, textures- I wish I could lock myself in a room for a week with no interruptions- But dont we all feel that way about something at times.

I for the first time in a long time- started to try new techniques and I miss learning. Good thing there is a heART Workshop coming up in Feb. Hope to see you soon! xox Flower

I am looking into the idea of going back to school.  I meet will the admissions office Thursday, should be interesting.  I sent off for my transcripts some time back, I have only received one so far. ( The one I got, might as well be erased from my record)

Week two of Etsy Fort Worth's Holiday Extravaganza has arrived! This is only the second of Etsy Fort Worth's weekly blog giveaways to celebrate the holiday season!

Coffee With A Handsome Man.

"Drink Drink Drink mommy drink... a-drink." shouts two year old Andy. " Ok what would you like this morning? Juice? no..Milk? no...Hmm... Water?" Andy's mommy ask him while stumbling through a cold morning. Then he even more loudly replies, " Foffie!".

Andy's mommy laughs out loud while remembering coffee milk her mommy made for herso many times. She wondered when that started, what age was she? five? four? three?
More like two. Then realizing that it probably time to start her last baby's first special cup of coffee milk. As her mom always served it with such flare! A china cup and saucer, little napkin and on lucky days a dainty cookie. She cant deny her child the same satisfaction of a cup of coffee.

Andy's mommy loves watching her little boy grow and understands that he will be a man before she knows it, so with that she pours her little man a MAN sized cup of coffee milk with no frills.

Enjoy the small things friends!

Pick your Pumpkin and say CHEESE!

This weekend was full of family fun! We decorated the house for Halloween and went to the pumpkin patch to choose the Perfect Carving Pumpkins!

At the pumpkin patch I attached my little point and shoot camera to a tripod. Chip said I looked like a big dork trying to look like a pro. I really did not care if I looked like a big old dork, that is what mommies do... Take pictures of their babies in the blue bonnets, pumpkins and Christmas lights. I am not normal and rarely do normal mom things so, to capture moments like this could help transform my children's memories in to the perfect childhood.

Let me also say that if your a mom and have a child under 4, the tripod is great! I could set it down and chase after our two year old with free hands. Ican not tell you how many cameras I have lost or dropped in those times where you put you kids first. There is even a Rhino at the Fort Worth Zoo with one of our cameras.

In the end my sweet husband decided to give in and join us for a group shot. It was a one take deal. Right before the camera snapped I yelled, " LOOK at THE Camera!!!" I think Andy was confused, but doesn't he have a great profile!

Big Nose Evil Mom!

I wish I had something exciting to tell you about! But I don't...
Have I told you about the two kitten the boys picked out at the pound?

I don't think so...

One day at the end of summer the boys and I went into a fish store. In the store they had parrots, mice, rats, snakes, turtles, sharks, pigs, eels, tropical fish and Kittens. Weird I know but the all got along so well. The little black kittens followed Davis and Elliot around the store until they picked them up and then- the begging began. I called their dad and ask if they could have the kittens. He said no, the boys need to show some more maturity first. They left sad and talked about the kittens for weeks.

Then I had the great idea to bribe them to help with house work. Bad I know, but hey most of it is their mess.

They would empty the trash and ask, " now can we get the kittens?"
Not yet, I would tell them as I gave them 4 more chores to complete.

( I think having children do chores is way harder than just doing myself, but I keep telling myself there wives will thank me one day.)

After beds are made, dishwasher is loaded and unloaded, bathroom is wiped down, ect.....
We talked about the Kittens. " Boys, if you want cats it will be a big job for you, that will not end - it is like having a baby. They whine, get hungry, need there litter changed and have to be played with." I told them all the negatives I could think of, but they were still sold!

After 2 weeks of very very helpful little boys, I talked to dad again. He was reluctant at first just as I was, but he loves cats so it did not take much. He told the boys that since they were so good helping around the house that they could each pick out a kitten.

Whoopieee! Happy Dances all over the house. Davis does this thing when he gets really excited that drives me nuts. He leans on the arm of the couch and kicks up his heels, over and over, until we ask him to STOP!

So the kittens at the fish store were long gone. So we headed to White Settlement Animal Shelter. Talk about sad. Where do all of those pet come from and aren't the owners missing them?

Anyway, they had kittens... Elliot picked out a fat Roley poly gray one and Davis a tiny boney baby that looked like he still needed his mommy. We tryed to talk him out of that one, but the lady there was like, " Oh that one really needs a home."

So home came fluffy and runt. I do not remember what their names really were because they both died with in like 3 days. We were sad and think maybe this is not such a good idea..cats?

We went back to shelter and adopted an old fat cat - she was very very pretty- but hid behind the washer, dryer, dishwasher and acted sick too- like foaming at the mouth and not eating. I called the shelter and ask why all the cats were sick. They said that there is a virus going around. To bring the sick cat back and choose a different one. Really? Exchange our pet? The boys thought it was a great idea, but what are we teaching them here? Another dead cat around the house would be too weird.

When we went back, they had a litter of gray and white kittens. The two brothers played and wrestled, Davis and Elliot feel in love. So we brought home our 4th and 5th cats in 2 months. Dumbeldor and Spidercat are doing very well, they have tripled in size. Play well, eat a lot! Are starting to use the litter box well! They even like baths and manicures. Andy our 2 year old has attached Spidercat with a blue sharpie marker- but other than that they are pretty cool cats.

Know I have to go scoop the poop. Meow

Saponification

Saponification is the base catalysed hydrolysis of an ester whereby an alcohol and salt of the acid is formed. The process involves the reaction of a metallic alkali (base), such as NaOH or KOH with that of a fat or oil to form soap.

CH₂-OH-CH-OH-CH₂-OH (glycerol) + 3R-CO₂-Na (soap)

Vegetable oils and animal fats are fatty esters in the form of triglycerides. The added base cleaves the ester bond releasing a fatty acid and glycerol. The soap is then salted out by precipitating it with saturated sodium chloride (NaCl).

I try to reuse things! A lot of times I find that I save things for a later purpose and then get tired of storing them and toss them out any way. Like the containers that our crystal light comes in...I save those all the time. They are sturdy, clean and have a tight fitting lid. I toss them into the top of my cabinet until they start rolling out and I get tired of them hitting me in the head and out they go.

I live in White Settlement, Texas. Nice little town, suffering economically like a lot of small towns, but nice. People are friendly. The city puts on amazing events for families like Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas Tree Lightings, Parades, Kid Fishing Days, Fourth of July Celebrations, Free Movies in the Park, Little League, Rec Center, Dinner with Santa, Settler Day Festival....I could really go on and on.

However we do not have a city sponsored recycling program...why?

Is my little efforts doing any good? I reuse boxes of all types for shipping. I conserve water like a nut. I buy used clothing for myself and kids. I take my newspapers and mags to the school paper recycling dumpster. But is that enough? I also buy paper plates, cups and paper towels and napkins. I use disposable diapers, wipes and bibs. My laundry waste is unreal...plastic bottles headed straight to a hole in our earth to stay forever. I can not stop thinking about the waste that comes out of my home that can be recycled. Do cities that recycle make a revenue on recycled items? Someone tell me.

Every time I go to a store I kick myself for forgetting my reusable market bags. "Bad Bad Danica !"my friend Jessica would say. I need to make more of an impact here. My cereal box reusing is just not enough anymore!!!

I got a paper grocery sack the other night at Central Market...and it had a story printed on it. I search the net for the story and ended up reading reviews for CM. ANyway it was a neat little read from the paper bags point of view. My friend Kelli actually started reading it and we giggled. After she read it she said, " That really make me want to make it into a kite!" As the bag mentioned that it would really like to be made into a kite.

It reminded me of the mailing envelopes that I started making a while back and thought I would document me turning this bag into a mailer - no not a kite...I know not as cool, but hopefully the mailer will go to a town with active and thriving recycling!

So Cut up the bag...

Cut up the extra for packing protection.

Sew around the edges with a ZIG-Zag stitch.

Address...
Stuff with goodness...
Sew other end...
Mail!

This really takes a lot less time to package then wrestling with toxic packing tape. Works for me. What works for you?

The First Rule About Soap Club Is...

I have become inspired to make soap! Crystal of Annie's Powder Room / AnniePoo.etsy.com is a fellow Fort Worth gal. We are both one the same team Etsy Fort Worth! Do you remember me talking about a Fort Worth Craft Mafia? Well she wants to start one too! So that my happen, we will see.
Anyway, I started researching soap making ( like every night for two months) and then ordered some supplies and made my first soap!
I went to Central Market and in the bulk section and found some rad stuff to put in my soap. Citrus Peels, Spirulina, Crushed Mint Leaves, Dried Herbs of different varieties. I made a huge mess in the kitchen. I dirtied up a lot of spoons and measuring cups, pots and bowls- spilt on the floor... but in the end came up with a pretty darn good soap!

You may ask well aren't you afraid of competing with other soap makers like AnniePoo? No Way, I make a soap that is completely different that AnniePoo's. She sells cool looking soap IE: guns, birds, Popsicles, boogers, eggs....
I will continue to buy the soaps that I love! Cinnamon Patchouli from Oyslan Holistic is yummy! I am not trying to imitate others. I am following my gut instincts and 15 years of skin care knowledge to create bars of soap that are treatments for your skin. Dry? Oily? Tired? Stress? ect...

I have only made about 20 batches of soap and I think I am totally addicted. I almost can not wait until the kids head off to school tomorrow so I can make more!!!

The name of my soaps " betty jean's dream " comes from my Grandmother! Betty Jean Morgan Franks, she was an artist and a half! She past away when I was 12, the same time the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" came out. She has always been with me in one way or another. I have her flat wide bottom, her height and hopefully the ability to make her dreams come to be. My mom is all ways telling me, " You are just a member of a Craft Club, just like mother... she always had something going... she never made any money...she spent all my daddy's money on supplies..." I got tired one day of hearing negative things every time I pitched a new idea or creative process to my mom and I yelled at her. Not a good feeling to yell at your mom, but dang where is the support? I ask her to please not talk about my grandmothers failures anymore! She has not, in fact she has been alot more supportive and I thank God for that!

I was making labels for the bars of soap and thought about my grandma... Would she be proud of me? Would she laugh with me and my mistakes? Would she teach me things? How who she do it? hmmm Betty Jean's Dream!

She had a china painting shop on 28th street in Fort Worth called BJ's China and Such. She taught lessons and sold supplies. She was a brick and mortar "Etsy" shop. She believed in herself! She had a dream...I am not sure if she even reached it?

I remember silly things like the fountain pens she had made that said , " Stolen from BJ's China Shop" and the coke machine that always had ICE COLD bottled cola inside! One time she was teaching a class, the ladies in the class were painting roses on tiles. Grandma Betty set me up my own spot with brushes and paints and my very own tile! I squiggled some paint on the tile and was proud! She then came over to me and press my thumb into black paint and pushed it firmly onto the white tile. I had a thumb print! But that was not all...she then had me find the thinnest brush... and told me to dip it into the black paint. She guided my hand in adding a tail and ears and a noise. We had turned the thumb print into a mouse! COOL! She smiled at me and said. " Try to make another." I did I made two or three more. Then right then is were I felt unlocked~ I painted a wedge of cheese in the middle of the mice. When she saw it she praised me and showed her class. She made me feel like I had a gift! That was only the beginning of our artistic moments together. Grandma always had this blue paper in a closet for us to draw, paint and cut, glue whatever on. I loved staying the night with her.

All of that reminiscing about college as really got me wondering why I have not gone back.

I started talking with an enrollment advisor to see if this could be something attainable. I know I would struggle with the basic course because I always have. a + b = ? Really my brain just does not work that way. Can I make it? Can I do online courses and beg for help from my Darling husband who is so smart I wish I could bottle his smartness and drink it. I just pray that my boys got a lot of that from their father.

What would I study?

Business seems to be an area that I like and learning to In's and outs to that would be helpful. (Taxes, Inc. LLC, Partnerships, Financing, Business Plans) You know all of that important stuff to running a successful business.

As a child I always wanted to be a teacher....so there is that?

Nursing? I had two of my boys in the NICU for a long time. Looking back on the care that those little 1lb babies needed, I think I have enough heart to handle that and the possibility to comfort grieving parents.

Bible College? Hmm I can't think of what I would do with that. Except spread The Word! That is a pretty important job in what ever area you take it or should I say God takes it.

And so I still wonder is this a thing to do? I do not feel satisfied with where my future is headed. I should I have been so blessed with three healthy boys, a wonderful husband, a home, cars, teeth lol

However when I look down the road 18 years - what will I do? My boys will be grown and ready to start their lives. . . . . .

I suppose I should just face today. I have to get up to the church to decorate for EXTREME VBS!!! Don't pray for me , pray for that.

Hey everyone! This is Computer Chip, my husband of almost 7 years.
Our story is kind of cool but the amazing thing is it just keeps getting more COOL everyday.

At the age of 18 I headed off to college in the small town of Stephenville, Texas. Tarleton State University, http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=50684418097 this is the place where I would study and run, excel, pledge Greek and become homecoming queen and become a Kindergarten teacher. NOT.

The first week of school was sad and exciting. I missed my Mom and Dad and high school sweetie. However it did not take very long for me to start to enjoy the "freedoms" of campus life.

Just so you know TSU has great school spirit! In fact the incoming freshmen were thought all the the school songs and were told of all the legends. As an 18 years old girl , learning a song about beer and booze as the school song was just weird. But hey I was weird too.

Some of the Traditions on campus were weird

The Purple Poo (http://www.tarleton.edu/~mcgregor/A%20ED%20598/Classes/Class%206/Sample%203.pdf) a secret organization of campus leaders dressed in purple gowns and weird mask, would come around doing weird and ugly things- pantie raids were always rumored. Everyone wanted to become a Purple Poo, but you had to be invited in.

The PlowBoys- A group of guys that were like a spirit squad- I just saw them as Beer Brothers...they had some crazy parties though...http://www.tarleton.edu/~Plowboys/recruits.html

Roll out that Purple and White Carpet with that TSU on it and we'll all have another keg of beer.
For its not for the rules that we stay in school...but to have fun while we..get drunk...While we get some...drink beer.

I don't remember if that is how it really goes but this little song chat was taught to us by upper class men at fish camp.

SOOOOOO......

It seemed to fit in you had to wear boots, hats, jeans, drive a pick-up truck and drink beer. I did not wear any of those things and did not like the taste of beer, but as a naive young girl I drank every single beer that was given to me. I really felt out of place at TSU. I wish I would have just studied and run. Instead I acted like an idiot. Stayed out all night. Came in the dorms plastered more times than I can remember. Once on homecoming week, one of the RA's invited a group of us to here apt. She gave us shots of Hot Damn- Cinnamon schnapps- Puke. I think I had alcohol poisoning if that is a real thing.

I tried so had to fit in at that school, I wanted to be "cool". I was so far from cool. I stood out like a grunge kid at a Garth Brooks Concert. I never considered myself to be "grunge" but there I felt like it.

While barely making it to classes, very little studying and a new boyfriend every week. My GPA was in a sad state. I really thought it was OK, because the upperclassmen that taught us the beer songs and showed us were to party and how to beer an hour away. (M & W Package Store) said that your first semester at college was intended for parting. HA HA Worst advise I have ever taken.

Well I did just that...and it seemed everyone else was doing it too.

Then it happened.....

One day a cute cute cute boy in a Weezer tshirt and baggie pants, "skater" haircut and piercing blue eyes smiled at me in the cafeteria. I strolled, not walked, around like a super confidant rock star out of Rolling Stone Mag. I felt my heart thump and then a friend distracted me and he was gone...

Several days later I saw him again. He as always alone when I saw him, so I thought he was unapproachable. So I just walked passed him and said," Hey Weezer!" I thought about this guy in the rock band t shirts all the time. One day I was leaving the boys dorms and just outside he was standing... He ask me for a light. I smiled and talked to him about my favorite Weezer song, Jamie. I think I even sang it to him. What a dork, I thought well he must not be that into me.

Time went on and then it was the end of my first semester of college. Everyone was packing up to head home for the Christmas Holidays. We did not have to leave yet...in fact my friend Vanessa and I decided to stay until the very last day we could. We drove around in her beater car singing Cranberries Songs. The town was dead- all the student were gone. Then I saw "HIM". I told my friend to flash her lights and turn around and follow that guy. We giggled and chased him down to a parking lot. He got out of his car ready to fight. He did not know we were two awesome chicks ready to have some fun. By fun I mean go to The Walmart and play with stuff. We played in make-up ( he let me draw Indian war paint on his face), we played in the toy dept. Pretty much looked at everything in the store. His name was Chip and he was darling! I liked the way he said "Box" so I ask him to say it over and over, and he did. He told Vanessa and I that he had an apt off campus, but it did not have electricity or water yet. I said oh lets get some candle and lemons and go over there and hang out.

Lemons? I know your thinking why Lemons. I did not know either, but I bet you remember thinking random was "cool"too.

His apt was so tiny... it had two rooms and a bathroom. The window unit air conditioner was put in so that it cooled both rooms. lol Picture this now for a minute. The wall was cut out for the window unit to fit in...Not a window, the wall. Inside a hole was put in the wall that divided the two rooms. Can you picture that? lt was so ghetto. In fact the old 1960's apts were called " The Chateau" but the kids on campus knew them as " The Chateau Ghetto"

Back then it was an awesome place to me. I was a bit jealous that he had off campus housing until he told us of his life. He was a ward of the state- meaning in foster care, and he got his college tuition payed for by the State if he kept his GPA at a certain level. I guess he was told that the first semester did not count too, because he lost his grant. He was working at the BBQ Shack in town and was just going to live life.

We laughed so hard that night, taking pictures of one another biting into lemons and making weird faces. He had no furniture so we made a coffee table out of a cardboard box - no radio so we sang songs by candle light. I was in "Love", but wait I go home tomorrow to my Mom and Dad and my boy friend of 2 years. You think I would have been happy. Chip, Vanessa and I parted ways that night and did not see each other for over a month.

During the break my parents kept on asking where my grades were... I told them that I made all A's and B's- ha ha. I got my transcript in the mail and it was bad...not failing but on academic probation. I burned the paper and prayed that I could bring it up so my parents would never know that I lied to them. I so did not want to disappoint them. How could I tell them that I was at a 20 thousand dollar party for 6 months.

My Mom and Dad were proud, they gave me a credit card for things I NEEDED and I went back to school in January. I had really good intentions. I met a girl that wanted to room with me and we had the largest room in the girls dorms. It was made for 4 girls, but somehow we lucked out and only had the two of us in the room.

The first day back I unpacked and decorated my room, with giant Pulp Fiction and NIN posters, pictures of family and friends, my bubble gum machine plastic bubble collection, my new cappichino machine from Santa, a 5 foot Raisin Brain Box that I stole from the cafeteria the last semester( really anything for a dare back then) and my art supplies. I felt like I could entertain people in our Huge Room... We even took some of the furniture from the common area and put it in our rooms. What nerve huh? It is amazing how entitled I felt to everything I wanted.

A few days into the semester Chip got in touch with me and said he was bored the entire winter break and wondered if we could hangout again. I was thrilled - I took him out to a steak dinner with my "NEED" card. We laughed and ate and smoked - he really was rough around the edges but still charming. We walked around town because neither of us had cars. We hung out a lot. I begged him to get me a job at the BBQ Shack so I could buy a car. He got me a job working there but it also included a 5:00am donut shift. Donuts on one side - BBQ on the other.

I stayed over at his apt until wee hours and sometimes was so tired that I would not even go to class. I was struggling with math so much that I gave up. My English prof was a grad student and a total #$%@$#@. The only classes I liked were racket ball and acting . So with in a matter of weeks I was dropped from 3 classes and working full time at the BBQ shack- Living pretty much at Chip's apt. I even took the mattress from the bed in the dorm to his place, so we could have something to sleep on. Everyday I moved more of my stuff into his place and out of the dorms. I was fun, we played house.

Then it was time to pay rent and bills and eat and on and on. Then it was not fun an more. Everything just felt all wrong...We were spending our money on beer and junk. I maxed out my "Need" card on pots and pans, glasses and plated.( Later I found out that my parents were reusing coffee grounds and rationing toliet paper so they could send me money)

"What am I doing!" I woke up one day and was like WOW! How am I going to explain this to my family.

Chip and I grew apart because he was loving this life. We had a friend downstairs named Davis and he was Rad. Very natural kind of guy, relaxed, mellow and fun to hang out with. We spent night after night talking and cutting up, but that grew old to me when the reality of what I had done started sinking in. I begged Chip to spend time with me like we did in the beginning. I just wanted to be alone with him not hanging out with 25 friends all the time. I felt like if we were going to do this then I needed to raise the bar a bit with our standards. I vacuumed and swept and cooked and cleaned, only to find that it was messed up again by freshmen partiers. Pot and Beer every night. I felt like a loser and I was very ashamed of myself. I told one of my friends Heather about my feelings, and her advise at the time was the only thing that felt right, so I took it. I called my mom and told her everything. She said were are coming to get you...and she did. My dad and Mom came down within an hour to pack me up and move me home. This is not what I wanted...I told Chip that I would come back and that I loved him. We cryed together and kissed goodbye. My mom and dad were so disappointed in me. I sank into my first depression that year. I layed on the couch all day and all night only waking to watch reruns of Roseanne and the Cosby Show. I ate anything and everything. My family talked to me but I hated them and myself at that time. A good long month went by and I gained 40 lbs. then I woke up! I snapped out of the comatose state I was in and just felt sick. What have I done? My mom would say things like get a JOB , take a shower, get up lazy... That day I woke up and began to put the old pieces back together again. I got a job, I lost my weight and began dating again. Old men. 43 then 32 and I was not even 20 at this time. I bought a car moved out of My parents house again this time into an all bills payed apt. I forgot about the great times I had at college and just chalked it all up to one big mistake. Chip who is Chip? I thanked God that I moved home when I did, that my parents we good enough to rescue me from my Big Mistake.

Years went by.....and more years. An engagement and another move home. Beauty School and a new career. Moved to Dallas. New engagement. A marriage and the death of a child. A divorce. change of career. 6 years past since I had cryed myself all the way from Stephenville to Fort Worth. I was back at home once again. 25 years old and a divorce, heartbroken and penniless. Then I got a call from a Boyce Gowan. "Hey Danica, how are you?" I was a bit puzzled to who I was about to dump my worries on to since they ask.

Then it hit me...Boyce...That is Chip... CHip?
Wow I have not thought about him and those times in so long.

He began to tell me that he had a son named Davis that was one. I could not believe this... Chip!

We talked and laughed for a long time. He told me that he had call every year and ask to my mom and/or dad to call him...Boyce Gowan. They never told me.

Wow he has never forgot about me. We met not long after that. We were so different. Older, bigger and still in Love. It was weird and good and strange and weird. I ask him one night if he taught God made us for one another and he said, " Yes, I think so!"

We have now as I said earlier been married almost seven years and we have 3 boys.

This story is cool but wait until I tell you about the last year of our life...

Better Things are yet to Come!

Today I watched three groups of high school kids connect with one another through paint. Each group had about 7 kids, and they were instructed to paint some pitures for the walls of the room we were in. I explained to them how I go through bouts od depression every now and then. Where I feel under attack and hated and worthless. Some time the feelings ae so stong I can not even stay out of bed, I just want to close the door and talk to no one! During those times, I pray that God will help me get out of the dark. I ask for him save me from my prison I put myself in. Then I paint...

You see I am to be the light in the darkness, not the dark hiding in the dark. These feelings I get everynow and again are brought on by what? I do not know...I wish I could make it never happen again. However everytime, every single time my Jesus picks me up and dust me off and points to the right direction again.

Today is a new day! The bible tells us that we are to only focus on today. Not to worry about the past or tommorrow, because they have their own issues.

After the paintings from today were complete I stepped back and looked at the works of the kids. Amazed really... These pictures were not super great works of art, just pipe cleaners and fingers were used. When I looked at them it became clear to me that if I am not letting the light of the Lord shine then I will head down the easy wide road that leads to dispair, But when I suffer - work - give and let that light beam from my inner soul I have no choice but to stay in the light.

So I focus on today...3:08pm

Today I have been alive 33 years. My friends have all called, brought me flowers and my sweet neighbor brought me a snowball cake. My little boys wanted to make sure I was going to share...I just let them share it. Happy Birthday everyone!!

My Sister in Law made me this beautiful and yummy Cake!

My sweet husband bought me jewelry, flowers and had my name put on the sign!

My brother and mother sent me and my husband out to dinner and watched the three boys while we went and enjoyed some quit time.

If you don't like to write about things not related to Etsy, flickr is awesome, post lots of photos of not your work, sneak in one now and again and make sure that your Etsy information is in compliance with Flickr tou ie. subtly placed in your profile and nowhere else.If you do like to write, have a blog and write about things other than Etsy. The occasional sale post, new product post and of course a well placed Etsy mini are all well and good but if "others" are going to read your blog you need to talk about things other than your messy craft room floor.Twitter is great but don't just follow other Etsy users, follow people who interest you or who you have things in common with (off Etsy) and build a collection of non-artist followers who will be fascinated by your random (very very occasional) shop updates. Don't be a twitter spammer, 'snot pretty.Focus on one of the above (or all three if you're adventurous) and you will have an avenue off etsy for people to find you on it.And now I am done.

And it got me thinking...what can I do different to direct traffic? to be more marketable? You know all that boring stuff. Then I remember that when I began this journey of online selling, I can up with a name...opened my shop...my website...twitter...facebook ect, all without making a logo- I need a logo...right? So where do you get somthing like that? Any ideas...crickets

That is all that I hear on this blog...crickets. So the post above states that it is important to get people outside of ETSY. My mind is a big jummbled mess right now.

Maybe I should just go play games with my little boys and forget all this mess.

Maybe I should get a real job and put my kids into daycare.

Last night Elliot my 6 year old told me that he has a project for school due tomorrow...
I ask him why he was telling me about it 30 min. before his bed time. He said he forgot that his art teacher told him to make a sculpture for class using some recycled items he brought home. I told him that he needed to start projects when he gets home from school. He said, " Okay Mommy. But uhhh Uhh...I dont like school lunch and I want to pack my lunch tomorrow okay Mommy!" "Okay Elliot, lets focus on the sculpture project." I was was in a really good mood so I was able to keep calm and carry on.

We went to my art supplies and he found the old Instamatic camera and he said, " I want to make a robot!"

I thought it would be a good idea...we found some cans that I store paint brushes in...then went to the shed for screws.

A little tape, epoxy and his imagination = His robot was born. He named it Roger the Recycled Robot. I was proud of the work he had put into is sculpture for school. I ask him, " Elliot well is this good? Are you proud of it?" He responded with, " Umm no, He needs to work. I mean he has a hand that can help you look at your teeth and his head moves, but I want him to work."

I explained to him that an art piece like a sculpture does not have to move and work, that he had completed the project - MAKE a Sculpture-

This is were I was very glad I was having a great day with lots of laughs and peace.

Elliot said, " Well we can work on this more tomorrow and make him work."
"No Elliot, it is your bath time and your project is do tomorrow!" I advised him as I peeled the dried glue off my fingers.

" But mommy, uhh Mrs. Swell said that I could bring it in 3 or 5 days." he told me, like duh!!!
" What? Elliot I don't understand? You said you had to take this tomorrow..."
" Well, I don't have to make a sculpture. My teacher just said I could make one if I wanted to." he said smiling with his missing teeth and furrowed brows.

I had to laugh! I told his dad and he laughed. I told my friend and she laugh. So even though the scuplture was not for class or a grade, Roger the Recycled Robot made my drab Tuesday night a bit more exciting and Funny!

Summer Time!

Summer time when the living is easy. Yea right. This summer is so full of plans I feel stressed just think about it. Our nine year old is going to church camp for the first time this year. (I am a bit, nervous about that. My husband and I both remember chruch camp "love")

My little Andrew will be turning 2 years old in August- I need to plan a blow out party for him.

Elliot needs to learn to read this summer- he will be in the 1st grade and is still struggling with his aplhabet, but he can identify Monet, Pollock and Van Gough's works with ease.

The list goes on and on, but now where in the long list of to dos is a vacation. Hmmm

I guess I better get a job that pays me money instead of rewards. lol

Today I am going to do some permanent eyeliner and brows, so that will be a nice change of pace. I just finished 100 custom pins for an Etsy order and need to make a trip to the old post office. If I had a postal scale I could print shipping from home and have the post man take it...(add to list buy a scale).

Through all this list making, I have to stop and remember to Thank my Awesome God, for all of the wonderful blessings in my life! Life is good!

A: The Funky Finds Spring Fling is an indie art & craft fair featuring the work of over 100 artisans. The public is invited to attend our event & enjoy a day of shopping! Preview participating vendors beforehand.

Q: What is the admission price and cost of parking?
A: The event if FREE! Yes, you heard right. There is no fee for admission & no fee for parking.

Q: Do vendors accept checks or credit cards?
A: Attendees are urged to bring plenty of cash. Some vendors may accept credit card payments via PayPal or ProPay and some may accept small personal checks (with ID). All accept cash & there are two ATMs on the Will Rogers property (see detailed map).

Q: Who can attend the Funky Finds Spring Fling?
A: Everyone! We welcome families, children (supervised, of course) and pets. If you bring your pet, please have them on a leash & make sure they have up-to-date vaccines.

Q: What's the deal with the charitable raffle?
A: Our generous vendors, sponsors & other business owners have donated thousands of dollars worth of items. Raffle tickets cost $1.00 each (cash only). All the money benefits Aflac Cancer Center & Blood Disorders Service, Humane Society of North Texas, and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The first fifty people to purchase a raffle ticket will receive a handmade swag bag full of goodies!

It seems like only yesterday that my sweet little April Fools Baby was born. He was a bit early, 6 weeks early.
I was preggers the same time as two of my dearest friends.
Kendra's baby(Kaige Arden) was born the day before and Heather's (Taylor Ann)a month later.

Who would have thought that this creative little boy was in the NICU for over 20 days...Oh those were long days.
I always say the mother with babies in the NICU need extra extra love and prayers.

By that I mean my kids that would not get out of the way of the peoples photo opp.
They were sweet teens that did not mind Davis and Elliot being in their photo, but
when I was their age I would be so much more irritated with the 9 and year old in my shot.
Thank God for unselfish people. Thank you for teaching my children how to share the earth and all
its
beauty.

I say Peace to the people we met in the giant magnolia tree today! May you all remember
your times of carefree youth. I feel like it was only yesterday that I was climbing in that same
tree with my lovers and friends.

Sometimes I feel like hiding.
Sometimes I do.

In those times it is hard to believe that I will ever come out of my hole again. I bury myself deep in a pile of blankets and pillows. I let my body become dirty and grimy, dreading a warm shower or bath.
It is all I can do to push myself to the bathroom for potty breaks. I see my children...playing.fighting...laughing...eating....sleeping, poking their heads into my room hoping to see that I am up and cleaning my "area". My area where glasses pile up and ashes fall thick. Clothes on the floor from 4 nights before, all smelling like smoke and liqueur and sweat. When I was driving around with no safety net.

Selfish and mean...
Hiding- dividing myself from the things that matter the most.

Afraid and alone...
Happy to be so- " Leave me alone - I need to get stoned."
High on a lie- not knowing why. "That is the way.", I hear them say.

I role out of bed and fall to my knees...begging and pleading , "Please Lord Heal ME!!"

Just as I pray, that very sameday- my tears pour out- and wash away pain.
I am choosing to live by the enemies lies.

No More- I slam that devil door!!!!!

Hold me in your arms, rock my lost soul and help me see that am not alone.
The beauty inside is not hard to find- start with prayer and not just a dare.
Open the Word- I have always heard...
I never did, and now I regret it.

Mistakes you can make and always He will love you...
which is really all that matters. I wish I could show you.
I can talk and ramble and try hard to rhyme, but until you are ready it is just not your time.

I pray your heart and mind are stirring with questions and concern. I also pray that you are able to get answers( it's so your turn). Lost and alone you do not have to be. Just take his hand you will humbly see.

No more dark holes and spaces inside- Alive and bright and deep as a well.

All Inked up and no where to go...

I just finished a four day class on interdermal micropigmentation! Wow, I tattooed eyeliner, eye brows and lips on people! Real ladies. I amazed at how awesome everyone looks after the process. Eyes are lifted, opened up and fresh looking.

I myself had full lips in red, liner and brows done by the other students. I think it all looks great! It is so nice to step out of the shower with color on my face.

I studied make-up and skin for so long, that there were and will be several learning curves. Like you have to stretch the skin very tight- stretching around the eye is a big "NO-No" in skin care- but if you don't do that for the process I just learned it will not implant the pigment very well.

I have a ton of pictures- before and after shots! I am adding my first model and myself.

I am tired! Spring Break came fast this year, wish we were going somewhere on vacation, but it will be nice to spend time with boys at home too.

It reminds me to stop and enjoy life more. Stop trying to change things, people, yourself - Just Wait....

In my life, when I feel like things are getting too hectic and I’m feeling the turmoil building up on the inside, I use this verse. I say out loud a few times “Peace, be still.” I can’t recall a time where it hasn’t helped bring a calmness to my spirit.
